AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

Volunteers coordinates the afterschool enrichment programs in the Fall/Winter/Spring by working with vendors and teachers to determine classes offered, securing class schedules and space, coordinating all marketing material and flyer distribution for offered classes, ensure school has appropriate information prior to start of session.

ART TO REMEMBER

This committee coordinates a yearly fundraiser that involves Mosby Woods student-made artwork that can be made into items for parents to purchase and works closely with the school art teacher. Volunteers collects the art to ship to the vendor, send forms to parents, organize order online, and distribute final products.

ASSEMBLIES Researches and secures various artists to perform at school-wide assemblies throughout the year with the Vice Principal. The coordinator is the on-site point of contact the day of the assembly and assists with set-up (usually just placing chairs in the gym and putting them away - and making sure the performers have everything they need).

BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK

 

At Mosby Woods ES, Blessings in a Backpack provides our students with food to help feed them over the weekend.  Volunteers are needed weekly to bag food and deliver them to the classrooms. Volunteers are needed to do regular shopping for food with the donated funds. Blessings in a Backpack is a nonprofit organization with the sole purpose of easing childhood hunger.

BOOK FAIRS

Volunteers are needed to set up, breakdown, and organize books during book fairs.  Volunteers are needed to assist students find books and manage sales/orders.

BOX TOPS

 

Volunteers facilitate the Box Tops 4 Education fundraising program at Mosby Woods ES by sending out reminders, collecting and counting Box Tops from each classroom in the Fall (Sept-Oct) and the Spring and prepare the labels for submission. Box Tops earn cash for our school through everyday activities like buying groceries and shopping online (Each Box Top=10 cents).

COPIES

Volunteers assist the PTA with making copies of flyers to promote PTA events and information to distribute to the MWES families.

GLOBAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM

Volunteers coordinate and promote the after-school enrichment program that offers MWES students the opportunity to develop basic communicative skills in a different language.

[C1] MOVIE NIGHTS

 

Volunteer plan this fun night for MWES family by determining what movie to show, securing dates, and distributing flyers.  Coordinates set up for movie night including snacks, pizza, popcorn, drinks, and facilitates clean up.

NEWSLETTER/WEBSITE

Volunteers works closely with the PTA board members and chairs to manage the MWES PTA website, uploads and publishes information and activities related to MWES and sends newsletter to PTA members.

RESTAURANT NIGHTS

 

Volunteer select, coordinate and promote several PTA Restaurant Nights throughout the school year. The PTA earns a percentage of the day or dinner receipts at the selected restaurant

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

 

 Volunteers coordinate this annual fundraiser with a school supply vendor by submitting supply lists by grade and approving the contents of the kit. Promotion of school supply sales are in May/June and volunteers submit the final order, arrange for delivery, and distribute supply kits during the beginning of the school year.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Volunteers coordinate and promotes fun social schoolwide events such as Bingo Night, Fall Ball and Spring Fling. Volunteers coordinate set up/clean up, vendors (i.e. DJ, entertainment, food/drinks), and activities.  Volunteers are also needed to monitor student activity during function. Volunteers secure raffling prizes and community donations for fundraising.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

 

Volunteers provides useful information to families highlighting free FCPS PRC workshops and events to include other free educational opportunities.

SPIRIT WEAR

 

Volunteers coordinate the sale of MWES clothing and merchandise as a PTA fundraiser. Volunteers are responsible for ordering, collecting orders, sorting merchandise and apparel, and setting up booths to sell merchandise whenever there is a PTA function or event at the school.

STAFF APPRECIATION

Volunteers promotes, plan and execute the MWES staff appreciation events throughout the year (i.e., Back to school, Holidays, prior to Spring break, and during Teacher Appreciation week).  The big week is during Teacher Appreciation Week towards in April/May where activities are planned daily.

YARD SALE

Volunteers promote this event, organize donated items the night before the annual PTA yard sale fundraiser, manage sales during the event, and help set up/break down the event.
