Frequently Asked Questions

Why join the PTA?

PTA offers all parents and caregivers the opportunity to be engaged in their child’s potential. Being a member of the PTA means that you are part of a powerful association and action plan that is focused on programs and initiatives that strengthen your child’s education. Join the PTA for your child because increasing our membership, even by one, makes it possible to provide important educational resources, speak up on important issues and create a stronger school community.

Who can join the PTA?

Membership is open to everyone in our Mosaic Mustang community from parents and caregivers to grandparents and teachers. We encourage every family in the school to become a PTA member to support the success of their child. We want a diverse membership base that reflects all of the families and needs of students at the school. PTA strengthens connections between your family, your child’s classmates and their families and teachers to build a thriving and inclusive community for everyone.

Where does my money go when I pay membership dues?

PTA dues directly support your child by helping to fund important school resources and programs. In the past, dues have been used to help fund field trips and assemblies, provide water bottle filling stations, laptops, musical instruments, sports equipment, and to support staff appreciation events. PTA dues also support advocacy efforts at the local, state and national levels, impacting decisions affecting your child’s health, safety and quality of education.

Are PTA meetings open to all members?

Yes! Please see the calendar for upcoming meetings. In general, PTA meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm. Meetings are currently being held virtually. A Zoom link is sent in our enews the Friday before the meeting. If you do not receive our enews, please go to FCPS News You Choose to subscribe. If you missed the link, please contact us and we will forward it to you. All parents and teachers are encouraged to join the meetings. If you are unable to join, meeting minutes are also made available on the website.

Does PTA membership require volunteering and attending meetings?

The only thing required of you to be a member of the PTA is to pay the annual membership dues. Beyond that, however you choose to PTA is up to you. Membership in the PTA can involve as much or as little time as you have to offer. There is no wrong or right way to be involved – anything you can give, whether it’s time or money, will support your child’s potential.

There is no wrong way to PTA!

How can I stay updated on the PTA?

BECOME A MEMBER. Pay an annual $15 membership fee per individual by cash, check (payable to Mosaic PTA), or online. By becoming a Mosaic PTA member, you will also be a part of the Virginia and National PTA, giving you a voice at the local, state, and national levels.

ATTEND PTA MEETINGS. Meet with teachers, school administrators, and other parents to learn about school events, share ideas, and voice your concerns. Usually held every 3rd Tuesday of the month. Please see our calendar for details.
